16" & 14"
Each fan may be configured as a pusher or puller. Every fan comes from us set up as a puller, but it is recommended that you hook up the fan to a 12-Volt battery and establish this first. You would hook up the red wire to the positive, and the black wire to the negative. If the fan forces air through the frame grid, it is set up as a puller, and would only be mounted on the inside face of the radiator. If the fan blows out from open front, it is set up as a pusher, and would mount on the outside face of the radiator. Regardless of how the fan is set up, it can be switched to suit your needs by reversing the blade, but you will also need to reverse the polarity. To do this, instead of hooking up the red wire to the positive you would hook it up to the negative and the black would then hook up to the positive. By reversing the blade and the two wires, you have made the fan opposite of however it came. Just as a reminder, the electric fan on a radiator must be set up to force air toward the engine, never away from it. This is because the natural flow of the outside air is forced in that direction when driving. The most efficient way to hook up the fan is have it set up as a puller, on the inside of the radiator. If this is not possible to do, you can mount the fan on the front of the radiator as a pusher. Just make sure you have the blade and the wiring set up properly.
9.5" & 12"
The fans come set up as pullers when they leave our factory, but are fully reverseable and can be turned into pushers, almost exactly the same as above, except you will notice in the box of each 9.5" and 12" fan will be a small, thin washer. This washer is needed when turning the 9.5" and the 12" into pushers. If turning the fan into a pusher, follow all the instructions above, except, when you remove the fan blade to switch it, place the small, thin washer on the shaft, then install the fan blade on top of it, then put the nut on. DO NOT over tighten the nut, you will cause binding and shaft damage. Turn the nut finger tight. Once finger tight, with a wrench, turn nut 1/8 of a turn tight. This will lock the teeth on the nut. Now just reverse the polarity of the wires, as above, and you are set up as a pusher.
